A few things
to know

Find clear starting points for a day visit, accommodation, the Spa and time with the animals. These answers bring together the practical questions we hear most often. If your plans need more detail, contact the team before travelling.

Visiting

A guide takes you through the sanctuary on an educational game drive, introducing the animals and sharing the detail you might otherwise miss. Allow approximately two to two-and-a-half hours for the drive, with additional time if you would like to relax afterwards.

The day-visit schedule offers departures at 11:00 and 14:00, Monday to Sunday, including school and public holidays. Advance booking is essential. Confirm your chosen departure when arranging your visit.

Day-visit rates are R350 per adult and guest aged 12 or over, R100 per child aged 2 to 11, and R300 per pensioner. Request a quote for your date and group, including any additional experiences. Rates are confirmed with your reservation.

Families are welcome to enquire. Give the ages of all children so the team can explain suitability and any restrictions for the experience you are considering. The general day-visit child rate does not establish eligibility for every separate activity.

Your day visit includes time at the pool and picnic area before or after the drive. Bring a swimsuit and towel if you would like to swim, and confirm the arrangements when you book.

Lion & Cheetah Sanctuary is in the Cullinan area near Pretoria, in Gauteng, close to Dinokeng. Request the correct entrance directions before setting out. A shuttle can be arranged by enquiry.

An enquiry lets us check your plans. Your reservation is confirmed once availability, the price and the booking requirements have been agreed with the sanctuary.

Ask about the group format when arranging your visit. Vehicle and departure arrangements can vary, so explain if you have particular needs or are planning a private group outing.

Staying

Yes, hearing lions call after dark is one of the most memorable parts of staying here. Some units are directly beside the lion and hyena enclosures. Tell us if that setting is a priority so we can suggest a suitable unit; the animals follow their own rhythm.

Choose a self-catering chalet, luxury accommodation with meals included, or the private Sunset Boma tented camp. They offer different settings and meal arrangements, so choose the stay that suits the people travelling with you.

Your luxury chalet or Sunset Boma stay includes an educational sanctuary drive. A self-catering chalet stay is priced separately from the drive. We will confirm the package and inclusions for your dates before you book.

Yes, you can enquire about Spa appointments and shuttle arrangements alongside your stay. These need their own availability and price confirmation. Share your dates and preferred plans in one enquiry.

Send your arrival and departure dates, number of adults and children, and preferred accommodation. We will confirm the available unit, rate, meal arrangements and booking conditions before you commit.

Sunset Boma is the sanctuary’s private hilltop tented camp. The camp has three tents for up to six adults, its own infinity pool, an outdoor kitchen and dining area, and open-air showers and toilets.

Spa

Request the current menu through a Spa enquiry. We will share available treatments, durations and prices and help arrange an appointment.

Yes, ask us to coordinate the appointment with your stay or guided drive. Each part is subject to its own availability and booking arrangements.

Animals & care

The sanctuary introduces animals including lions, cheetahs, hyenas and servals, with giraffes and antelope in the wider setting. Explore the animal pages and ask your guide about the individuals you see.

No. A guided visit should not be taken as a promise of contact. Ask what a particular activity includes and follow the guide’s instructions throughout.

The sanctuary was established as a home for animals that cannot be returned to the wild. Ask about the particular animal you are interested in; each history and care requirement is different.

Volunteering & support

Work may include food preparation, cleaning and enclosure maintenance, fence checks and observing behaviour. Tasks are allocated and supervised by the team. Request the current volunteer pack for placement details.

Contact the sanctuary about its current needs before organising supplies, practical help or a financial contribution. Request verified giving details directly from the team.

Getting here

Find the sanctuary at Plot 45 Welgedacht, Leeuwgedacht Conservancy, Roodeplaat, Pretoria, in the wider Cullinan and Dinokeng area of Gauteng. Use the location link on Getting here and request the correct entrance directions before travelling.

Yes, enquire with your collection address or airport, date, passenger numbers and preferred return time. The team will confirm whether the route can be arranged and provide a separate quote.

Comfortable footwear, sun protection, drinking water and a camera are useful for a day visit. Bring a swimsuit and towel if you plan to use the pool, and a light layer for changing weather.

Yes, expect a gravel-road section before reaching the sanctuary. Allow extra time and ask about current road conditions, particularly after rain or if you are travelling in a low-clearance vehicle. Request the correct entrance directions before departure.
