Curiosity
comes first

A cheetah is far more than its reputation for speed. A guided cheetah experience at Lion & Cheetah Sanctuary gives you time to look closely, ask questions and learn about the animals with someone who works around them.

Start with the programme available for your date. We will explain the setting, the supervision and what taking part involves before you book.

A guide.
A closer look.

Notice the slight build, the spotted coat and the dark lines beneath the eyes. Your guide can put those details in context and explain how cheetahs differ from the other predators at the sanctuary.

If you are interested in an interaction, ask exactly what is offered on your date. Our team will explain what your experience includes and how to take part safely.

What is included

A guided introduction to the cheetahs, with opportunities to learn about their behaviour, characteristics and care. The exact format, duration and any additional activities will be explained when you enquire.

Who can join

Tell us the ages of children and any access or mobility requirements in your group. Eligibility is specific to the activity, and the guide’s instructions apply throughout.

Visitor boundaries

Stay with your guide, respect enclosure boundaries and follow instructions around the animals. Any contact must be part of an expressly confirmed, supervised programme. Do not approach, feed or touch an animal independently.

The animals’ responses can affect the programme. Contact only takes place when our team considers it appropriate for the cheetahs. The opportunity to learn and observe remains part of the experience.

Times & rates

Enquire about available experience times and the current rate. This programme may differ from the general educational drive, so confirm the experience you want before reserving.

Built for
a different life

Cheetahs are adapted for short bursts of speed, with a flexible spine, long legs and a tail that helps them change direction. Their calls are different too: cheetahs chirp and purr, rather than roaring like lions.

A good visit makes room for those differences. Let your guide introduce the animals, then carry your questions into the wider sanctuary drive and the stories about daily care.

The general drive introduces the sanctuary and several species. If you want a dedicated cheetah experience or interaction, request it specifically so we can explain the programme, availability and any separate charge.

Ask the team what contact, if any, forms part of the current programme. Do not assume touching, walking or photographs with an animal are included. The guide will explain what is appropriate for that visit.

Give the ages of all children when enquiring. The team will advise on the activity’s suitability and restrictions before you book.

Wear comfortable footwear and bring sun protection, drinking water and a camera. Follow the guidance supplied for the particular activity.
